Reason #423 Why You Should Check His Credit

This is so unfortunate but it speaks to my thoughts around checking your mate’s credit and not totally giving up the financial reigns in a relationship.  I can relate to being consumed with wedding expenses and planning and maybe even being tempted to skip a few bills but at what cost?

Check the video to find out!

I think they can work past it, but this involves such a sense of betrayal for this woman, to have her car repossessed on her wedding day has gotta hurt!

What would you do in their situation?

  1. At first, I was speechless. Didn't think I'd have a single thing to say in the comments! But I do:

Marriage is an economic agreement as much as it is a romantic one. Do not marry someone unless you are prepared to become economically "one" with them. This includes discussing debts, assets, and most importantly values and future goals. If you marry someone with money problems, those money problems become yours. And it's your own fault for not finding out about them beforehand.

(Now, obviously someone can lie to you and have those lies come to the surface after the wedding. It happens. But it's less likely to happen if you can get your fiance to sit down with all bank statements, credit reports, etc. on the table. It's hard to hide things that are in black and white on paper.)

My God! I cant even imagine…

Talk about a lack of trust, along with all of the other jitters that come along with the wedding!

Here's a better one: why don't both of you get a CPA together and discuss credit reports then?

Can't believe this….reason enough for me to unsubscribe. Sorry.

Here is the email response received from Ginger regarding my above post:

"Lmao!! You're probably one of the ones we avoid with bad credit! Lol"

Wow. Thanks for the financial advice.

Wow, wow, wow! More than I can't even imagine how the bride must have felt, I can't imagine how she would agree to marry someone and have no clue what their financial situation was. Also, I feel it goes both ways.

Men should also be concerned about the financial situation of their future mates. If neither party ever even thinks to bring up the subject prior to the wedding day, the couple likely has bigger issues and are possibly already headed towards failure.

  6. Gloss says:

It's unfortunate. A prime example of preparing for a wedding instead of a life.
