This Blog, My Articles and Your Rights As Readers

Creative Commons License photo credit: Rich Anderson

I realize that from time to time there will be articles I write here that may be “controversial” and/or offensive, but keep in mind that I pay the hosting fees here, no one else. I encourage healthy discussions on topics you may disagree with and trust me I get enough mail disagreeing with some of my posts. But when you resort to name calling and becoming belligerent I will block your IP address and delete your comments.

I really don’t fancy Internet drama as much as some people would like to think otherwise. I love it when we disagree, but we can find a way to do it in a manner that is representative of adult discourse, not children in a playground. You have the right to come on over, read to your heart’s content, hell disagree if you must, but keep it clean.

I usually disagree with bloggers who get surly with readers but I fully understand now that the Internet is filled with folks who will take what I write personally and really, to the heart. Please, don’t, I certainly don’t have it in mind to offend any of you personally but I write my opinions based on how I feel and I have deemed that to be ok. You don’t have to come back but you are also welcome to write me if you feel something I’ve said offends you or if you disagree.

But in short, say what you want about me and the blog, but once it becomes disrespectful, it will not be entertained nor tolerated here.

MMMKAY?

  1. Forgive me, but your post doesn’t make it clear that you’re focusing only on people who take advantage of the system. I agree with you there.

I’ve taken the post on my blog down.

I’m sorry that I was hot-headed in my misunderstanding of your statements. Genuine apologies.

  2. I just made clarifications in a new post. My apologies for not making this clear. I have issues ith people who make a living off Uncle Sam and still complain. Not those who are on hard times and keep making crappy decisions and still complain about where they are in life.

    Apologies accepted.

  3. Hey Ginger, I wouldn’t get too upset about it. Everyone has their opinion… if anything, it’s good that you engage your readers in a heated debate. It encourages discussion. For what it’s worth, I feel the same way. There are too many people that feel entitled to help from the government these days.

  4. I totally agree. I love your opinions - and I agree with some of them, and I disagree with others. But there’s no excuse for people to be rude or mean about it. We’re all people in the end, and our differences are what make us human.

    Rock on, girl!

  5. Everyone has a ‘button’ that will set them off if you press it by bringing up a certain topic in conversation. When you say something and someone explodes, it’s usually something you couldn’t know in advance, and probably not even related to you. If I was you, I would delete hateful or offensive posts, but I wouldn’t be too upset about them.

But for people who post the abusing text, think of how it will be received when someone reads it. You lose credibility with your first insult, and keep losing it with each name you throw. Even if you have a valid point, you lose the debate and no one will take you seriously.

As Ginger points out, this is HER blog. She hosts it to express her opinions, and she’s entitled to say whatever she likes. If you find it that offensive, go away and host your own blog, but don’t expect me to subscribe to it.

  6. I wouldn’t give too much energy to negative people.
They thrive off of upsetting you. I wouldn’t even address them in anyway, just block em and keep it moving.

I have found that the world wide web is full of E-Ballers and Laptop Gangstas because they have the luxury of hiding behind their invisibility of the internet. Just ignore them and carry on with your day.

    Much Love,
    Ray

  7. Raycal I don’t, I just dont understand someone writing a nasty post about me because I dont agree with them. I mean, just shrug it off and move through it.
