Fabulous Feminine Indulgences
Aaahhh sounds sweet doesn’t it? These are the kinds of things that make a woman feel girly, feminine, sweet and flirty. After reading Wear More Cashmere: 151 Luxurious Ways to Pamper Your Inner Princess, I realized that I needed to add a few more things to my arsenal of things that make me feel like a woman. But being that I am on a frugal kick right now, I will try to make most of these along the same lines. Work with me here! Every now and again we need to reward ourselves and this does just that.
Cashmere Robe
Restoration Hardware-Monogram Cashmere Robe $244
Now I know these run a pretty penny depending on where you purchase it but this is so worth it. This is perfect on those days where you’re just lounging around the house or on a Pamper Me day. You have those don’t you? Well if not begin. Now. Some of us may even call them mental health days when the plantation job seems like its on overdrive. But whatever you call it, make sure you have a day that you can zone out and tune out the world. Even better, in a cashmere robe.
Grow Pink Orchids in your Bathroom
![]()
I’m not sure about growing them in my bathroom but perhaps a day room? Living room? Im actually going to follow through with this but in the garden out back. Mind you I know nothing about gardening but I have day dreams about lounging outside in the backyard, at midnight surrounded by scented florals blooming in our garden. Throw in a glass of Moscato or heck Arbor Mist and I’m in heaven.
What’s your favorite scent?

No, not the ones that the fashion magazines tell you are the hottest new perfumes. But, what is your all time favorite scent? Freshly baked sugar cookies? Sweet strawberries? Jasmine? Or what about Pink Frosting-a mix of french vanilla, buttercream and sugar? I’ll share a secret, I don’t like mass market perfumes. Never really did. So for a while now Ive gotten some really nice scents from Suds and Light. They make the most decadent scents imaginable! You may even find some of your favorites there as well. Take a looksee for yourself. My next order will include:
Sugar Cookies-(Best Seller) Warm butter cookies with a background of vanilla
Angel Whispers -(Best Seller) (Body Only)Sweet honey blended with carnation, lily and jasmine with soft touches of vanilla, sandalwood, violet and musk
Chocolate Covered Cherries - A valentine treat, sweet cherries covered in white chocolate and drizzled with vanilla cream
Check them out, I highly recommend them as an alternative to high priced perfumes.
High Thread Count Sheets

I recently bought a sheet and duvet set with a 1200 thread count and I have been in heaven. I make sure to get Sateen as it feels better and I often don’t want to get out of bed in the morning because of the way it feels against my skin. Save, do what you need to do (except go into debt) to get a set of these luxurious sheets! Surprisingly Target has a set that’s 600 thread count and they are *scream* lovely, lovely, LOVELY! I can’t find it online but check your local Target.
Take a warm, scented, candle-lit bubble bath

Treat yourself to a bubble bath at least once a week. Why? Every woman needs time to herself to recharge and reflect. Get your favorite scented bath salts, scented candles and let it all soak away. Catch up on that romance novel you’ve been meaning to tackle. Thank whomever you pray to for getting you through another week and then soak the evening away. Best of all? Its FREE!
Personal Affirmations

Get a journal. This can be online or a physical journal and write down all the things you love about yourself. Nothing negative. No BUTS. Just LOVE. Write it all down. Then write down all the things you wish to be. This can be cathartic as you get into this as you begin to understand where your “blocks” lie. If you have a hard time embracing the good things about yourself then how is that reflected in your life? This exercise also lends itself to some deep introspection if you allow it. How is this indulgent? Sitting alone writing about all the things you love about yourself, your goals, hopes and dreams is indulgent because youre spending time nurturing your mind and spirit.
How about incorporating all of these things in one day? Here’s how:
1. Take a day off. Send the kids, hubby/SO away and make sure that you’re alone for the day.
2. Take two trips, one to the florist to discuss your new hobby of growing pink orchids and to CVS/Supermarket/Barnes and Noble to pick up a suitable notebook for journaling. Purchase as many orchids as your budget will allow and place them in a vase once you’re home.
3. Once home, put on that luxurious cashmere robe and enjoy the solace. Spray with your favorite scent and draw your bath. Remember to add a few drops of your favorite bath salts and light your candles.
4. While your bath fills, sit down with your journal and write down all the things you love about yourself. Again, nothing negative. Just focus on all the good things about you and nothing else.
5. Once you’re finished, your bath should be ready. Check the temperature to make sure its just right. Get in. Proceed to soak the aches/pains, concerns and worries away. Think of nothing but the moment. Reflect on all the things you wrote about in the journal, live in the moment.
6. When bath time is over, slip into bed with your new high thread count sheets. SWEET DREAMS!!
Try it out and let me know how it goes!

I’ve been toying with the idea of making one of these lists for men…
The list would have to include: going to an old-fashioned barber for a hot-lather shave and haircut; buying and having a new suit personally tailored; enjoying a nice quiet round of golf; long, uninterrupted video game sessions; chocolate-covered potato chips and red wine…

Oh man. I love pampering myself. I had some hair-apy yesterday where I pampered my hair. I just bought some Carol’s daughter products and now my hair smells like heaven!!! It definitely does something for the soul to take care of yourself in such a way. I can’t wait till I move out the dorms so that I can soak in a bathtub of my own. And speaking of journals, I was just wondering where mine was yesterday. Thanks for the list!
Love your site btw
